Credentials of Slow Learner Press Authors

Do you have multiple degrees and professional certificates in the subject of your book?  Are you a well known expert in your field?

If so, Slow Learner Press is probably not the publisher for you.

We look for helpful books written by generally competent people who figured out for themselves how to succeed at endeavors apart from their educational background or professional expertise.

Thus, if we were to publish a guide for Little League coaches, we’d rather the author be a long time assistant coach than a former professional baseball player or the coach of the team that won the Little League World Series.

If we were to publish a book for new dads (and we are), we’d rather the author be the father of a large family than a famous pediatrician or psychologist.

If you have not been able to attract the attention of publishers and agents because you don’t offer them the instant credibility and platform of a traditionally credentialed expert, we may want to talk.

Writing for Slow Learner Press

Slow Learner Press offers an opportunity for writers whose works meet our narrow criteria to affiliate with a nameplate that will establish credibility as a source of well written constructive, practical nonfiction.

To be considered for publication by Slow Learner Press, works must be:

  • Nonfiction
  • Written from a sincere desire to share practical knowledge acquired through self study or personal experience
  • Comparatively short (generally not more than 40,000 to 50,000 words)
  • Aimed at an existing market segment but offering a point of view not well expressed within that segment
  • Not written about controversial political, religious or social topics
  • Well written in a clear expository style

Slow Learner Press works with only a small number of writers, so the level of editorial and production assistance will be tailored to the needs of each. If your book fits our profile and meets our quality standards, we will help you publish and market it almost as inexpensively as you could do it yourself.

The Slow Learner Press Business Proposition

Slow Learner Press aspires to publish a steady supply of short, nonfiction books, knowing that most will generate insignificant revenues, but believing topical relevance, quality writing, short production cycle, low marketing costs, and the well-focused ethos of the nameplate will produce a profitable business model. We’re aiming for a lot of infield singles, not three-run homers.
